From the Titles of Christ Class, December 29: Savior
Not only is Jesus Christ our Savior and eternal God, but he is God with us. He isn’t a God who is far away, distant, and unconcerned; he’s with us where we are, sharing the experiences of our lives. When Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary and came into this world as a baby, he identified with all aspects of humanity.
He is the God-man; he is God, and he is God with us. Frequently, in scripture, you find the tremendous promise, “I am with you.” God gave that promise to Moses (Exod. 33:14), and he gave it to Joshua, Moses’ successor. He said, “As I was with Moses so that I will be with you” (Josh. 1:5; see Deut. 31:6–8). The Lord has given that same promise to us.
