Description
Passion Week, the final week of Jesus' life, coincides with Passover Week in the Jewish calendar. Jesus, as a devout Jew, celebrated the Passover with his disciples in Jerusalem. The Last Supper, where Jesus instituted the Eucharist, is believed to have been a Passover Seder. The events of Jesus' betrayal, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection all took place during this week, which is why Christians commemorate it as Holy Week or Passion Week. The timing of these events underscores the deep connection between the Jewish Passover, celebrating liberation from slavery in Egypt, and the Christian belief in Jesus as the sacrificial lamb, offering salvation and freedom from sin.
